Mid Century Modern, twin pedestal, Astrola Oak desk, Vintage, Abbess style desk

This is a stunning mid century modern Astrola oak desk by British manufacturer, A.C. Co Ltd  The drawer fronts and legs are all solid oak and the top has a solid frame with central veneered panels.  The side, inside sides and back panels are veneer.
 
We cleaned and sanded this beautiful desk, removed the old, dark, varnish, to reveal the beautiful oak grain underneath.  The sides, back and inside sides are veneered and so we painted these with Fusion MIneral paint in Soapstone, a lovely, dark grey, which works so well with the golden tone of the oak.
We wanted to maintain the amazing colour and patina of the oak on the desk, so we added coats of Fusion's Tough Coat, to provide a durable finish, without compromising the beauty of the colour, grain and patina of the wood.  We have cleaned, sanded and waxed the sides of the 5 drawers, so that they all run easily.  The insides of the drawers have been cleaned and kept natural.
This is a such a gorgeous piece, built to last and is now ready to give many more years good service.  A real statement piece for any office, or home office.

Please note this is a vintage piece, from the mid century period, so does have wear and tear and bangs and knocks, as you would expect from an item of this age.  If you are looking for a pristine, factory perfect finish, then this isn't for you.  If you are looking for a quality, solidly built, desk, which looks good and will last for many more years, then you will appreciate just how special it is to find a fabulous item like this.
