Vintage Mid Century Frank Guille Austinsuite Chest of Drawers Danish Style Retro
  • Vintage Mid Century Frank Guille Austinsuite Chest of Drawers Danish Style Retro

This fabulous Mid Century piece is by the designer, Frank Guille, for Austinsuite.  Its Danish style sleek lines, gorgeous streamlined teak handles and shaped legs. make this a real statement piece!  We often see these without the legs, so it's a real bonus to have them.  They unscrew from the base, so, if you fancy a change, you can easily take them off.  With six drawers, this stunning chest offers plenty of storage as well as looking good.

We always love to keep natural wood where we can, hence the unpainted handles, but the veneer had some wear, so after giving it plenty of TLC, we painted it in this gorgeous, teal,  soft  bluey green, colour.  Teal featured heavily in Mid Century décor and has proved to be ever popular, as it works so well with many other colours.  We created this beautiful custom colour using 4 shades of Fusion Mineral Paint; Midnight Blue, Liberty Blue , Seaside and Park Bench.  This colour works so well with the wood handles, which have been sanded and waxed to protect them.  Fusion Mineral Paint is a premium paint which is hard-wearing and gives a lovely matt finish.

The inside of the drawers are in good condition and all the drawers run smoothly.  There are a couple of knots in the teak handles, which, of course, is an inherent part of the wood - we've shown a close up picture of the wood knot on the bottom drawer - it's been sanded and waxed.

Mid Century style continues to be a design trend chosen by many interior designers and lovers of the sleek, Danish style and rightly so - it fits perfectly into a retro or vintage styled decor and also looks striking in a more contemporary or urban setting.  Austinsuite furniture is very well built and the pieces designed by Frank Guille are highly sought after.

We are always delighted to be able to rescue and refinish beautiful, good quality, vintage furniture.  We lavish them with care and attention, clean them thoroughly and breathe new life into them, but we can't make them look like new - and we don't want to!  These are character items and their imperfections are an integral part of their story.  As a vintage piece from the 1960s it does show signs of use and age, but these do not detract from its style and practicality.  The veneer's grain does show through the paint.
